UVM PT3 Grant

The University of Vermont's Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to Use Technology Grant (PT3), Technology F.E.A.T (From Entry to Adaptation to Transformation) is a federally funded grant. This grant was awarded to the University College of Education and Social Services in the summer of 2000 for a three year duration (until summer 2003).  $1,008,285 in federal dollars were awarded to the University of Vermont.  These dollars are matched by the University and its consortium of partners by $1,600,484 in non-federal contributions to sustain the grant efforts. Total Grant funds: $2,608,771.

The goals of our Technology F.E.A.T are:

* Prepare highly skilled teachers who can demonstrate competent use of technology to transform teaching and learning,

* Provide professional development and support in the integration of technology into PreK-16 instruction,

* Align teacher education programs with the Vermont Framework of Standards and Opportunities by using and developing technologically-infused, standards-based units and assessments,

* Develop electronic professional portfolios which challenge pre-service students to use increasingly complex levels of technological sophistication.

The case studies on this site will show you some of the ways the University of Vermont's PT3 grant has begun to transform teaching and learning in pre-service teacher education.
