Over the years, Charlie has frequently sought out the best tools to use in achieving his teaching objectives. According to Holly Parker of the UVM PT3 Grant Team, "Charlie has always wanted to explore the latest tools, always wanting to try new things." Most recently, Charlie has been using a course web site and digital video to enhance his teaching.

Charlie has discovered that by putting course information online he has increased his ability to get information to students and stay in touch with them. Perhaps more importantly, he's found a new way to build a learning community among his students who see him, and each other, only once a week in class meetings.
Digital Video
Having worked a lot with analog video tape to help his students analyze classroom interactions, Charlie has made the move over the last couple of years to digital video. iMovie software from Apple Computer, Inc. has given Charlie new techniques to help his students understand the meaning of key classroom interactions.
