After having the opportunity to teach a course online and to discover a wealth of tools available to enrich her teaching, Shirley began to consider a number of ways to use technology in support of her classroom teaching. Given her experience with WebCT, the platform she used to deliver her course online, she decided to explore its use as a support tool for her face-to-face courses.
Students in the courses where Shirley uses WebCT don't spend any less time in the classroom to take part in their course online. Instead, Shirley treats the online space in WebCT as a "reference department, a virtual classroom outside."
