Course Objectives and Methods
The objectives for both of these courses are similar:

• Students learn the content of the elementary or secondary P.E. curriclum.
• Students learn teaching strategies for delivering the curriculum.
• Students are introduced to standards-based education.

While these are the stated objectives, Lynn emphasizes a couple of other important objectives. In these courses, students also develop an understanding of the importance of Physical Education in schools, and develop skills in communicating this importance to others. Students also begin to understand their own strengths and weaknesses as teachers.

In order to reach these objectives, Lynn uses a variety of teaching methods:
Lecture, small groups, cooperative learning groups, hands-on teaching in the gym, work in the schools, and use of videotape to analyze teaching.
