Here is detailed information about the technology Charlie used to build and upload his course web site:
Netscape Composer is a software program that allows you to create web pages using HTML. Composer is free, and is included in the Netscape Communicator software package. To access the Netscape Composer web page creation tools in Netscape Communicator version 7.0, click on "Window" in the menu bar, then select "Composer."
Charlie used his iMac computers (one at home and one in the office) to work on his web pages, but Netscape Composer can be used on virtually any computer.
In order to make his site accessible on the Web, Charlie used a program called Fetch to upload the pages he edited tothe UVM server.
Students used a variety of computers and both Netscape and Internet Explorer to access the course web site. Charlie didn't use any special formatting or technology that required the use of a particular web browser.
