Learning Objectives
An important learning objective for Charlie's course is that students become "builders of community." His course Web site supported work toward this objective by helping students stay connected with one another and with Charlie. Using the web site, students learned valuable lessons about community among learners:

The web site encourages students to access information about how to build community among learners. It also encourages them to stay in touch with the ways that each of them are building community among the learners they’re working with. It also makes a coherent set of expectations available to them relative to course requirements.”

Standards
Charlie has spent significant time considering how his courses' content supports the achievement of programmatic and state standards by students. Take a look at this document prepared by Charlie to see how these courses align to various teaching standards:

This use models to pre-service teachers how websites can be integrated into course content.

This use provides teachers with experience in using technology to enhance their own productivity – skills which they can transfer from their work in Charlie’s course to their future professional practices.
Charlie posts students' ideas on the Interaction page of the site. Students check the site to see if their ideas have been posted, and get a chance to see what some of their peers are thinking. This form of sharing has created a better sense of community among students who are generally isolated from one another in their student teaching assignments. Standard III
