The Center for Cultural Pluralism Invites UVM Faculty to a Workshop with Visiting Scholar Leeva Chung, PhD

From Theory to Practice: The Nuts & Bolts of Applying Intercultural Communication & Identity in the Classroom

During this hands on faculty session, we will discuss fundamental approaches in applying intercultural communication and identity. This workshop will focus on various identity-based communication themes in contemporary US society and international arenas. Faculty will explore how active interactive exercises can be linked to intercultural and identity concepts to better support learning.

Blackboard Jungle Symposium 13: Reimagining an Inclusive Community

March 26 & 27, 2020, University of Vermont Dudley H. Davis Center (4th floor)

Universities and Colleges are complex, diverse, and multidimensional spaces for teaching, learning, and working. The Blackboard Jungle Symposium (BBJ) is designed for UVM faculty, staff, and all others wanting to participate in critical conversations, construct new and promising inclusive practices, and foster conversational spaces where diversity, equity, and the free exchange of ideas are welcomed, appreciated, and valued. BBJ is a collaborative opportunity to engage in an open, civil exchange of ideas, perspectives, and beliefs that will cultivate greater inclusivity of diverse populations and increase cultural understanding within communities.

Faculty Resource Network (FRN)

The University of Vermont is a member of the Faculty Resource Network, a national consortium of 50 universities and colleges centered at New York University (NYU) [Learn more about the Faculty Resource Network]

The Faculty Resource Network offers a Scholar-in-Residence program in which participants spend either a semester-long sabbatical or a month-long summer residency engaging in research, revising and developing curricula, and producing manuscripts for publication.  Additionally, the Network hosts a series of week-long intensive seminars designed to enhance the teaching and scholarship of participants at their home institutions.
