Get Involved

The Navigators at UVM serve our city through relationships with local churches and organizations. We invite you to join us to serve our neighbors on campus, off campus, or in other places throughout Burlington and Chittenden County. These are a few ongoing service opportunities that Navigators invest their lives in.

Contact Steph Hobold if you're interested in any of these opportunities or want more information: E-Mail Steph

Burlington Emergency Shelter

Dwell Missional Church has created a partnership with the Burlington Emergency Shelter to serve those who are homeless in the Burlington area. Contact Zach, the pastor of Dwell Missional Church, for more information: E-Mail Zach

Refugee, Immigrant & New American Populations

The Navigators have a relationship with Serve Burlington, a local non-profit which mobilizes volunteers, to serve Burlington and Winooski's expanding immigrant population through Conversational English Clubs and a Refugee Move-In Crew. See Serve Burlington's website for more information.

Youth in the Neighborhood

Girls Group and Boys Group exist to disciple young and maturing youth, who find that life is "just harder", to follow Christ in all aspects of their lives. They meet to focus on building community, life skills, and their relationships with Jesus. As a small group leader you will share your story and yourself with each of these youth, while they in turn will share themselves with you.

  • Girls Group is an environment for preteen girls to build relationships with college women.
          Girls Group meets Mondays, 5:15-7:00.
  • Boys Group is an environment for preteen boys to build relationships with college men through sports.
          Boys Group meets Thursdays, 5:15-7:00.
Commitment: A semester-long commitment, with a desire to be involved for the entire school year is required.
  • Tutoring/Mentoring: You will be paired with a youth who is a part of Girls Group or Boys Group to meet in the community and support their individual needs regarding homework and life.
Commitment: Two hours per week at a time determined by you and the family for a semester with hopes for the year.
