Email Software Inquiry

Email is now a primary means of communication for students, staff and faculty at UVM. A reliable, full-featured email program is a necessary tool.

The IT Network explored the features of a number of popular email clients, and recommends the following programs:

• Outlook Express, version 5 or later, on Windows and Macintosh computers
• Eudora, version 5 or later, on Windows and Macintosh computers
• continue to support Netscape Messenger, version 4, on Windows and Macintosh computers
• Entourage for Macintosh will be supported to the extent that its features mirror Outlook Express for Macintosh
• Use of IMAP for accessing mail is encouraged over POP
