Standards Committee: Timeline of Process

I. Standard proposal comes to committee, consensus is reached.     (See standards committee Process documents for details)

II. Recommendation forwarded to CIO.

III. Recommendation forwarded to Communications committee     (pending CIO approval) IV. Communications Committee forwards recommendation to following groups:

a. Avocats (list)
b. UVM Today (news)
c. UVM Home (web)
d. Deans, Directors, and Chairs
e. Staffline (print)
f. The Record (print and web)

V. Comment/Feedback period begin.
    default period of one month proposed
    forum to be help on web page/web mail?

VI. Committee reconvenes to revise recommendation as necessary.

VII. Final standard announced at next scheduled standards bulletin (by CIO?).

• Major standards announcements to be made in the annual bulletin
• Minor announcements can be made in biannual update bulletins
• All major standards to be implemented in July to coincide with the fiscal year
• Minor standards revisions to be implemented upon consensus of the community
