Email Security Certificates Updated
- By Helpline
New, updated security certificates were enabled over the weekend for several mail servers to replace existing certificates that would have expired today, including imap.uvm.edu, pop.uvm.edu, and webmail.uvm.edu. While most email client programs (such as Mozilla Thunderbird) should make the transition to the new certificate without incident, older or out-of-date mail programs may display an error if they are unable to interpret the new certificate. Updating the email program to the newest version should resolve the issue in most cases.
Between 8:30AM and 9:30AM this morning, even current versions of email programs may have displayed certificate errors due to a failure to load the updated certificates on several of the incoming IMAP servers. All IMAP server nodes have since been restarted and are issuing the latest security certificate.
