This e-book is currently under construction.

The exercises presented here are designed as a teaching tool to explore various methods in estimating and monitoring abundance of wild species, with an emphasis on animal species.

The exercises were developed and written by Therese (Terri) Donovan (Vermont Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit) and Mat Alldredge (Colorado Division of Wildlife).  Each exercises consists of a spreadsheet exercise, followed by an analysis in programs MARK, PRESENCE, or DISTANCE.  In the near future, we will be adding coding in program R to each exercise.

Click here for an overview of organization of the e-book, and note that Exercises 1 and 2 are required work.  Press the "refresh" button on your browser to ensure you are downloading the most recent version.
