Data Format Instructions

What we need is a text file with the data for each survey on a separate line.  Thus one survey needs to be translated to a single long line.  A text editor may "wrap" the data, don't worry about that...just don't put a carriage return within a survey result.  I've presented the format below and also included an example.  Please look through all the instructions here before coding your data.  If you have missing numeric data code it as "999".  If you have missing character data code it as "XXX". When I put an M/F below it means enter an "M" or and "F".  If neither works enter "XXX".  If you email this to me, I will collate.  Please separately identify the Community Member Survey data and the Community Survey data.  Thanks!  This should be fun to analyze.

Community Member Survey

PUTTING THIS ALL together might result in one survey that could look like the following:

The University of Vermont, 52, M, Asian, FL, professor, 25, BIKE, 70000, 3, EXT, PH, Y, Y, 2, TC, 5, 5, 4, 2, 5, 5, 4, 3, 3, 4, 5, 4, 2, 1, 3, 4, 5, 5, 6, 3, 3, 3, 4, 6, 3, 4, 3, 80, 3, 3, 7, 7, 30, 30, 20, 20

You should have 52 commas (separating 53 fields) in each record.  Please double-check your data because if there is one mistake it makes all the data bad.  NOTE: there were two questions numbered "4" ... call the second one "5".   Also there were two questions number "17" so start counting the second one as "18" and the third one as "19" etc.
