First Year Advising Program
First Year Advising
Students are welcome to stop into the Office of Student Services in Rowell 002 Monday - Friday anytime from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Appointments are available. CNHS first-year students are assigned academic advisors in their student account accessible through the MyUVM portal. Students may email an advisor to set up an appointment or call the Student Services Office at (802) 656-3858.
NH 50: Approaches to Health
This one-credit course, required of all CNHS first-year students, discusses approaches to health from the personal to the systemic. Students interact with faculty and peers in their chosen fields, explore the ways services at UVM contribute to the health and success of students, and develop strategies for success in their chosen majors. Activities include:
- CNHS Faculty & Professional Panel
- A talk with CNHS Dean Patty Prelock
- Presentation from staff at the Center for Cultural Pluralism
- Introduction to database searches at the Bailey/Howe Library
- CNHS Advising Presentation
