BIO
As a senior lecturer of Middle Level Education and Secondary Education, Tricia Brown teaches courses in both programs focusing on areas of curriculum, educational technology, teaching young adolescents, and place-based education. She also provides advising and supervision of students in their practicum experiences. In addition to her teaching and advising roles, Tricia serves as the coordinator the Secondary Education Master of Arts in Teaching program.
With expertise in STEM education and universal design, Tricia's experiences in K-12 educational settings include time as a middle and high school science teacher as a well as an innovative learning district resource teacher.
Her research interests include project-based curriculum and education for sustainability. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Natural Resources with a focus in Transdisciplinary and Sustainable Leadership.
Tricia has presented her work at national conferences sponsored by the American Educational Research Association and the Association for Middle Level Education. She co-authored a forthcoming article on on middle grades teachers’ dispositions in a personalized learning context to be published in Preparing Middle Level Educators for 21st Century Schools.
In addition to serving as a faculty member with the Middle Grades Collaborative in Vermont, Tricia is affiliated with the Association for Middle Level Education and the National Association for Research in Science Teaching .
