BIO

Lia Cravedi first joined the University in 1989, after spending the first 12 years of her professional career teaching in the Springfield and Winooski School Districts in Vermont. While working as a special educator, she was particularly interested in the areas of inclusion and collaborative teaming. While developing her knowledge and skills in these areas, she engaged in the preparation of highly skilled future secondary educators as an instructor, advisor, mentor, and program coordinator. Her impactful contributions and impact on students, colleagues, partners, and schools will never be forgotten.

Together with colleagues from the Department of Education, Ms. Cravedi was instrumental in creating the "Common Core," an engaging and developmentally appropriate experience for all first time, first year students. To stay informed about issues facing today's high schools, she serves on the Champlain Union Valley School Board of Directors representing her hometown of Hinesburg.
