BIO

Jillian Donnelly is a senior lecturer of American Sign Language (ASL) in the Department of Education. She has extensive experience teaching ASL and Deaf Culture in K-12 and higher education in a diverse variety of settings and locations. She earned her B.S. degree in Communication Studies in 2004 and her M.S degree in Administration at Supervision at Gallaudet University in 2009. In 2014, she earned her second M.S. degree in Deaf Education at McDaniel College in 2014.

Jillian's first experience as an educator was teaching English and American Sign Language as a second language to Japanese students in Tokyo in 2005. Since then, she continued to teach students in various levels from K-12 through higher education.

Prior to UVM, Jillian worked as ASL specialist at a Deaf school in Washington, D.C. Knowledgeable in all aspects of Deaf culture, she also has experience in social services for the Deaf in a variety of contexts. Along with her passion for educating others and traveling the world, she is a strong advocate for animals and the environment.

When not working, you can find her exploring the outdoors with her dog and traveling abroad.
