She is one of four UVM Social Work graduates who served as Vermont state legislators.

Over the course of her career, Ann taught a variety of core courses, foremost amongst them being social policy. She designed a popular course which involved taking students to the legislature, modelling to the students that it was a normal expectation that social work graduates could contribute to policy making at the highest level.
