Affiliate artist, bassoon

Dr. Maxwell Grube is an active bassoon educator, chamber musician, soloist, and orchestral freelancer in New York State and Vermont. He currently serves as Adjunct Instructor at the Crane School of Music in Potsdam, NY and Affiliate-Artist in Bassoon at the University of Vermont in Burlington, VT. Grube serves as the Vermont Youth Orchestra Association’s bassoon instructor for the Endangered Instruments Program, and he maintains a private bassoon studio in the Burlington area.

Grube currently performs as second bassoonist/guest principal with the Orchestra of Northern New York as well as substitute second bassoonist with Symphoria (formerly the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra). He performed as substitute principal bassoonist for the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes in Corning, NY in 2014–2015, and has appeared with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra as substitute bassoonist on several occasions. Grube was awarded the Eastman School of Music Performer’s Certificate for bassoon performance in 2014, as well as Eastman's 2015 Teaching Assistant Prize for excellence in graduate instruction. He holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music (DMA in Bassoon Performance and Literature), Arizona State University (MM in Bassoon Performance), and Mansfield University of Pennsylvania (BM in Music Education, Bassoon), where his teachers included Mr. John Hunt, Dr. Albie Micklich, and Dr. Susan Laib, respectively.
