A Weekend in the Country

 
The College of Arts and Sciences has an impressive array—and proud legacy—of talented faculty, students, and staff working on critical environmental issues in Vermont and worldwide. The environment is indeed the single largest area of unifying scholarly activity on the UVM campus. For these first-year students pictured above, a trip to their professor's farm exposed them to what it's like to live off the land.
 
 
 
 
The Creative Mind
 

Wannabe. Has been. This dismissive shorthand of fevered aspiration and faded achievement intrigues artist Nancy Dwyer. She's drawn to the meaning and cultural context of the words. On a visual level, she finds interest in the sheer forms of the letters and commonalities of the words. Dwyer, along with musician Ray Vega and poet Major Jackson, is one of three professors interviewed in this article about their creative process in and outside of the class.
