It may be called the Big Apple, but New York City is also home to hundreds of former Catamounts.
And 16 Marketing Club students are hoping those alumni can help them break into the business.
"Marketing is in every concentration, it can help anyone, you need to know how to sell yourself," said Kylie Webster, a junior in the School of Business Administration concentrating in Marketing and Human Resources.
The Marketing Club was in New York to meet with four School of Business Administration alums who are now working in both Marketing and Financial firms in the city. They include Polo Ralph Lauren, Weiden+Kennedy, MRM Worldwide and the NASDAQ Stock Market.
"It's just a great experience to come down to New York City and meet alums and learn tricks of the trade to get jobs after school and really what they're looking for during the hiring process," said Peter Cesiro, a junior in the School of Business Administration concentrating in Marketing and Management Information Systems.
"I learned that if you have a question, UVM alumni are so great about answering your question for you and helping you beyond this trip," Webster said.
There are about 50 members of the Marketing Club; 16 were chosen for the trip based on their active support of club activities and fundraising events.
"Last year I joined the club and it was just such a good opportunity and so this year I just worked really hard to make sure we could come back because this is such a good opportunity," Webster said.
