The word "intramural" stems from the Latin "intra muros" (between or within the walls). Intramural games/matches are held against other members of the same school (unlike club or varsity sports, who compete against other schools).
Here's why: Flag football, broomball, soccer, putt-putt and longest-drive golf, volleyball, badminton, tennis singles, ice hockey, softball, team bowling, dodgeball, inner-tube water polo, sand volleyball, the list goes on, and the competition can be serious (serious FUN, that is).
Both team sports and individual/dual events exist, as well as co-ed and same-sex teams. Join a residence hall team, or a team through another campus organization. Don't have a team? Sign up as a free-agent and let Campus Rec find you one.
