SESP 2015 Summer Enrichment Scholars Program

Summer Enrichment Scholars Program

The Summer Enrichment Scholars Program is brought to you by the African, Latina/o, Asian, and Native American (ALANA) Student Center (ASC). The ASC’s mission is to increase the retention of students of color on campus by providing holistic support of their academic, social, personal, and cultural identity development.

What is SESP?

SESP is a FREE summer bridge program offered to incoming UVM first-year students of color and bi/multiracial students. First-generation and students with limited income are also eligible for this summer program and encouraged to apply. SESP provides the opportunity for students to adjust to their new environment and address the challenges they will potentially face during their transition from high school to college. Learn more.

Program Features

  • Earn college credit: Choose from courses in English and science
  • Build Community: Live in a residence hall and build community with students and staff
  • Earn money: Participants receive a paid part-time job on campus
  • Additional opportunities to develop academic and leadership skills throughout your first year

Who attends SESP?

SESP participants claim identities from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds. In the past, individuals have come from as close as rural Vermont, New York City, and Boston, and as far away as California, Puerto Rico, and Cameroon. They bring experiences and talents to share in their new community at UVM.
