Assignments for the PDS Special Methods-Science Course

1. Textbook readings (20%) Provide written evidence of having read and studied 12 text chapters of your choosing. Please submit this assignment in sets of 4. Assignment I A due on February 16, I B on March 23, and IC on April 6.

2. Contributions to class (40%) (a) Reporting on a teaching science article or idea ("quickie"); (b) Present 3 mini-lessons to the class (10 minutes each). Please sign up in advance.

3. Science Textbook Analysis (10%) Conduct a detailed analysis of at least 3 science textbooks including one laboratory manual; In class April 6; See our Trowbridge/Bybee text, pages 358-360, for guidelines.

4. Science Unit Plan (15%) Using all the components previously learned and recognizing you will be teaching, construct a standards-based Unit Plan. Due April 13. A class presentation of this unit is a likely event.

5. Final Assessment (10%) Taping of your teaching on April 27.

6. Concept Map of the EDSC 295 course (5%). Due on May 4 (at our last session)
