Other Hardware for AccompanimentDevices like the Boss JS-5 Jam Station made by Roland come with built-in accompaniments and allow the user to create accompaniments. The JS-5 was developed as a practice tool for musicians to work on their improvising skills, but it works well for accompaniments in the classroom as well.
MP3 players like Apple's iPod can be very useful because they can hold much more music than a CD, are very portable, and the music can be organized into playlists. For example, a teacher could transfer all the accompaniments from a method book CD onto the iPod, and transfer BIAB-created accompaniments onto the iPod. The iPod can be connected to external speakers for use in the class.
