A Portfolio Quest for Educators

You may wish to explore this quest on your own or  work with others and look at ePortfolios from different perspectives. Some roles you may select are identified below:

You are a faculty member in a college of education and comfortable with using technology tools. You have even helped other faculty use technology in their teaching and your college has put you in charge of selecting a process and tool for your pre-service students to create professional ePortfolios. There is particular pressure to get a portfolio system in place for your college's upcoming national accreditation. You will be making a presentation to your faculty and administration when you return about your recommendation.

You are a technology specialist in your school and your prinicpal is interested in learning more about electronic portfolios for students.  She has read that students can actually learn more from making portfolios and they seem like a good public relations tool to share student work with parents and community. You are interested in making recommendations to your principal and faculty that you feel is most appropriate to their technology skill level and resources you have available. When you return you will create a presentation to let them know of your recommendations.

You are a student and want to look at different ways of constructing ePortfolios. You have been charged with identifying which process and product would be best for you and your classmates. You like using computers although you only have a very old model at home/dorm and so most of your work on computers has to be done at your school/college technology lab.
When you return you will be making a presentation to your school student organization and principal/dean about the technology tools that you liked the best.

Depending on your role some of these guiding questions may be more relevant but all these questions need to be addressed in helping you make your decision.
