How do I sign on to the FRS System?
At the UVMVM Main Logo Screen, on the command line,
Type: FRS -- (you may prefer to type this
in lower case), and hit enter.
Hit enter again.
The FRS system will display a login screen where you should
type the system # 002, your operator #, your password, and
hit enter.
Is my password in FRS case sensitive?
Yes!
Your password is case sensitive, so if you get an error
message that says: Invalid Password; take your caps lock off, and
retype it.
How do I sign off the FRS System?
By typing SO (s and letter o --- abbrev. for sign off) in the screen field, and hitting enter twice.
You may do this in any screen that you are in, with one exception:
**** If you are keying entries
that get updated into the FRS system when you hit enter (this is called
an on line interdepartmental
batch), make sure that you have closed out any open on line batches
first, before signing off the system. Otherwise, the system will
not allow you to sign off.
What is the bulletin board, and where is it located?
The bulletin board is an informational screen that is
used by the Controller's Office
in order to communicate with the FRS users about various
issues.
The bulletin board is located after the official login
FRS screen (where you type in
your system #, operator #, and password).
Please read the bulletin board on a daily basis, it may
contain vital information that you need to know, especially at year end
time.
If I bypassed the bulletin
board, how do I get back to it without signing off the
system?
You may get back to the bulletin board from any screen by typing a 0 (zero) in the screen field area, and hitting enter.
What is the name and description of the first menu screen in the FRS System?
The name of the screen that you are in, appears in the upper left portion of the screen.
FIN - Financial Systems Menu
The FIN screen is a great base screen to start from,
that lists other menus that you can go to, for a more descriptive breakdown
of inquiry screens.

What screen displays the fiscal year that I am working in?
The FIN screen displays this for you in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
It is very important to check what fiscal year you are working in, by looking at the FIN screen's fiscal year when you sign in to the FRS system, especially starting in June.
Our fiscal year end closing starts in June, and may continue for 3 months, so it is a good habit to check the fiscal year you are working in, for those months.
Several of the menu screens also display the fiscal year
in the upper right of the screen.
