GRADING:                             Each lecture exam will have equal weight. The three exams, an average of the
                                                  quizzes, and a grade for the class presentation will  be averaged and will count
                                                  as 60% of your final grade. Your laboratory grades will be averaged and count
                                                  as 40% of your final grade. NO STUDENT CAN PASS THE COURSE WITHOUT
                                                  PASSING BOTH THE LECTURE AND LABORATORY PART OF THE
                                                  COURSE.

Grades in this course are NOT scaled.  A numerical average ending in 0.5 or above, will be increased to the next whole number.  Grade assignments are as follows:
        97-100 = A+          87-89 = B+          77-79 = C+           67-69 = D+          59 or less = F
        93 - 96 = A            83-86 = B            73-76 = C             63-66 = D
        90 - 92 = A-           80-82 = B-          70-72  = C-            60-62 = D-
 

DISCUSSION GROUP:         We have set up a list on email, called "MMG101".  Everyone in the class MUST
                                                  subscribe to this list as you will miss important information for the class which will be
                                                  conveyed via the list; e.g. answers to the quizzes.   It is also a good way to get questions
                                                  answered which might come up during your study time in your room or just to discuss
                                                  anything you found interesting about microbiology in class or in the news or with other
                                                  members of the group.
