In 2001, the TVC Board decided to venture into unknown territory and introduce a poetry section in order to experiment with taking the journal in new directions. The full board continues to engage in dialogue about how exactly "scholarly" is defined, and about whether or not poetry and personal narrative are appropriate mediums for inclusion. In 2001, they opted to take the risk, and were thrilled with the results. We hope you will enjoy reading the pieces. It will probably not surprise you how multi-talented our colleagues are! This conversation is far from over. We hope and expect that boards in years to come will continue to push the envelope and look for new ways to keep the content of The Vermont Connection fresh and interesting, while maintaining its scholarly integrity.
