MONDAY (4/19):
SPEAKER on environment and policy in
Vermont: DAVID ZUCKERMAN (Organic Farmer and VT State Representative)
-Where: Aiken 104

David will discuss local environmental issues and how they are handled in our
state legislature.
CAMPUSWIDE POTLUCK and showing of BLUE VINYL
-Where: Redstone quad, by Slade (rain site location: CC Theater for movie,
Billings for potluck)
-When: 7-10 pm
Potluck sponsored by Slade (plates and silverware will not be provided, please
bring your own utensils), followed by the showing of Blue Vinyl: (A Toxic
Comedy Look at Vinyl, The World's Second Largest Selling Plastic. With humor,
hope and a piece of vinyl siding firmly in hand, Peabody Award-winning
filmmaker Judith Helfand and co-director Daniel B. Gold travel from Helfand's
hometown to America's vinyl manufacturing capital and beyond in search of
answers about the nature of polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Her parents' decision to
“re-side” their house with this seemingly benign cure-all for many suburban
homes turns into a toxic odyssey with twists and turns that most ordinary
homeowner's would never dare to take. The result is a humorous but sobering and
uniquely personal exploration of the relationship between consumers and
industry in the feature-length documentary BLUE VINYL, which won the
cinematography award in the documentary competition at the 2002 Sundance Film
Festival.

SPEAKER: JOHN TODD

"ISLANDS OF HOPE IN AN ENVIRONMENTAL SEA: REFLECTIONS OF AN EARTH
STEWARD"
Dr. John Todd, known for his invention of the LIVING MACHINE, will discuss
worldwide environmental problems experienced through his lifetime. He
will inspire us through his success stories of progress made and what could be
done by us to continue in his eco-footsteps.
FILM SERIES: Women & Population: A Night of Films and Discussion
-Where: CC Theater
-When: 7:30-10pm
Come and watch some eye-opening films on population, consumption, and the
important role women play in making a difference. Learn more about A Mother's
Promise Campaign and how you can help. The event is free, but donations
are welcome and an open mind for discussion afterward encouraged!
THURSDAY (4/22): EARTH DAY!

EARTH WEEK SPEAKER SERIES: Rainforest Man:
Tim Keating
-Where: CC Theater
-When: 7-10 pm
Tim Keating, Cofounder and Executive Director of Rainforest Relief, a
New-York-based organization that works through education and direct-action
campaigns to reduce the demand for wood and other products which are driving
the destruction of rainforests worldwide, will be talking about his involvement
with the rainforests of the world.
FRIDAY (4/23):
ENVIRONMENTAL FAIR!
-Where: Bailey Howe green (rain site: Billings)
-When: 11 am - 4 pm
Come by the Bailey Howe green before or after class on Friday and check out
some of the environmental booths! Booths will include crafts (papermaking,
planting of seeds, paper bag vegetable stamping, painting, etc.), selling of
recycled T-shirts, wind energy information, composting info, recycling info,
and much more!
RECYLCED FASHION SHOW & DJ
-Where: Billings North Lounge
-When: 7-10 pm
Stop by Billings North Lounge and watch some of your fellow classmates strut
their stuff in donated recycled clothes! Mr. Nice Guy and Danielle will be DJs
for the night! The event will also include the showing of Zoolander and free
food!
ALL WEEK LONG (during the day): 9am-3pm

Local artists are invited to bring earth-inspired art to Slade to display their
work! Open to the public all week long.
