“Expanding the Horizon of Women’s Health and Breast Cancer” was the theme for the University of Vermont (UVM) Cancer Center’s 18th Annual Women’s Health and Breast Cancer Conference, which took place at the Sheraton Burlington Conference Center on Friday, October 2, 2015. The annual event, attended by more than 800 cancer survivors, caregivers, physicians, researchers and members of the general public, provided education on prevention and wellness for women in relationship to cancer. The event was presented with support from the University of Vermont Medical Center and College of Medicine, Susan G. Komen for the Cure Vermont-New Hampshire, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont, and Front Porch Forum and was free and open to the public.

Experts from the UVM Cancer Center, as well as guest presenters from around the region, shared information and expertise at the conference. The ticketed keynote lunch presentation was delivered by UVM Professor and Chair of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Debra Leonard, MD, PhD, who discussed “Precision Medicine and Diagnostics in Cancer Care.”
