Congratulations to our October and December 2012 graduates and our newest alumni.

On December 15, 2012, the Rubenstein School celebrated this major accomplishment for our B.S., M.S., Graduate Certificate, and Ph.D. graduates at UVM's 210th Commencement Ceremony. Our graduates included 34 undergraduate and 16 graduate students, one of the largest mid-year classes in our School's history.

In addition, an honorary degree was conferred, posthumously, to Carl H. Reidel, professor emeritus of the Environmental Program. Accepting on behalf of Carl, who passed away in November 2011, was his wife Jean Richardson, a UVM professor emerita of the Environmental Program and former president of the Faculty Senate.

Carl launched the nation’s first university-wide interdisciplinary Environmental Program at UVM in 1972 and served as vice president of the National Wildlife Federation, director of the National Parks Association, the first chair of the Citizen Advisory Committee on the Future of Lake Champlain, and a member of the Vermont House of Representatives.
