Zakir Hussain & Rakesh Chaurasia

Mar 19, 2018
7:30 pm to 9:30 pm
Flynn Center for the Performing Arts

Two of Indian classical music's most formidable players converge at the Flynn for an evening of intricately melodious music for tabla and flute. Zakir Hussain is India's most celebrated living musician: an innovative percussionist of international renown who's opened channels between East and West via collaborations with George Harrison, the Grateful Dead, and many others. Rakesh Chaurasia follows the footsteps of his acclaimed uncle Hariprasad Chaurasia as a bansuri flute maestro. Pairing complementary talents for fluent rhythm and melody, these virtuosos draw deeply from their South Asian cultural legacy to forge a sound where modernity and myth intertwine.

Presented in association with the Office of the Vice President for Human Resources, Diversity, and Multicultural Affairs through the UVM President?s Initiative for Diversity.
