Tyler Doggett Dean's Lecture

"Helping Others"

LECTURE:

Some people suffer daily due to preventable problems. Other people are in a position to alleviate or eliminate that suffering, yet do nothing. We are sometimes in the first group, and sometimes in the second. Professor Doggett will discuss when and why you should help suffering people in Vermont and the rest of the world - and why you should help a lot.

BIOGRAPHY:

Tyler Doggett is Associate Professor of Philosophy and has taught at UVM since 2005. He works on ethics and the philosophy of mind and a little bit on connections between the two. He is working on two series of papers: one on super-altruism, the other on consumer ethics.
