Brown Girl, Brown Girl: A Love Letter to BIPOC Women

“The most disrespected person in America is the Black woman. The most unprotected person in America is the Black woman. The most neglected person in America is the Black woman.” - Malcom X

Why, decades later, does this Malcom X quote still ring true? This diverse panel of voices will focus on why Black, Indigenous, Women of Color deserve to be recognized and valued, and why these inequities are not something that can be fixed by “leaning in.” We will examine Malcom X and Leslé Honoré’s updated 2019 Poem ‘Brown Girl, Brown Girl’ in the wake of the 1st woman of color being Vice President of the United States.

Panelists: Dr. Michelle Cromwell, Dr. Wanda Heading-Grant, Dr. Jinny Huh, Dr. Bindu Panikkar, Jaydeen Santos, and Lynn C. White Cloud
