We are excited to relaunch the Translating Identity Conference this academic year on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at the University of Vermont with a renewed focus on trans joy and community building for students.

TIC 2024 will focus on trans and queer joy and all the ways we can create, nurture, amplify, share and celebrate it. We are thrilled to announce Kayden Coleman as this year's keynote speaker! Kayden (he/him) is a Black, transgender educator, advocate, and 'seahorse dad'. He is a well known and respected reproductive justice advocate for the trans masculine community. Read his full bio here.

Workshops are being confirmed and the full program will be released soon. Stay tuned!

The primary audience for TIC 2024 is trans and queer students from UVM and surrounding colleges & universities. We recognize that this is a change from past TICs, and we truly value the wide reach of our community. Our intentional focus on students this year is three-fold:

  1. To center the distinct needs, experiences, and desires of college students as emerging leaders in the face of an unprecedented number of policies and legislation that specifically target trans youth.
  2. To allow for robust community building and connection to a network of peer changemakers across the region.
  3. To rebuild TIC, and its planning process in a way that is manageable and sustainable moving forward.

We know that TIC has a special place in the hearts of those who have led, organized, and attended in the past. In keeping with the founding values of TIC, there will be no cost to students to attend. If you would like to contribute to TIC, donations can be made through the UVM Foundation.
