This course will develop the necessary written, visual, and oral presentation skills for effective and efficient business communications. Students will produce reports, media, and oral presentations. Organization, concision, and professional tone are emphasized. Basic skills (e.g., grammar, word usage) will be addressed as required. Students will complete the course with an improved ability to communicate ideas convincingly through a variety of assignments. The intense four-week asynchronous format is organized within four modules. This course is fast paced, and time management skills will mean the difference between success and failure in completing the required assignments within each module. There is a team project which requires an online presentation and requires team building skills. Course Objectives 1. To introduce the structures of written, visual, and oral business communications. 2. To assess the communications provided by others for effectiveness and efficiency. 3. To evaluate communication situations and determine the appropriate communications approach. 4. To practice business communications as an individual and as a member of a group. 5. To develop a professional style and tone in business communications. 6. To apply learned skills for communicating complex issues to a variety of audiences.
