More Information

Section Description

Environmental public health is the study of environmental agents and settings that can affect human health. This course will explore major areas of environmental public health including environmental hazards, exposures, and related human health outcomes from a local, regional, and global perspective. It will also include an overview of major scientific fields used in environmental public health, epidemiology, and methods of environmental health practice. Through short assignments, students will practice skills used in environmental health, including scientific article review, persuasive and informative written communication skills, creating data briefs, and questionnaire development and piloting. NOTE: This course is part of a pilot program that will be using Brightspace, UVM's new learning platform that's replacing Blackboard. Since only a limited number of courses will be piloting Brightspace this coming semester, you may still have courses in Blackboard as well.
