Section Description

Teaching in Higher Education is a 6 week asynchronous (all online) course in the Blackboard Learning Environment. This is an interdisciplinary course. All are welcome. We will learn about backward course design, inclusive teaching practices, Universal Design for Learning, and other evidence based practices to help all students succeed in the learning environment.

Section Expectation

Students will be expected to engage with the course in Blackboard on a regular basis during the six week time frame. This is a 3 credit course. Optional student/instructor meetings will be available in a virtual meeting space using Microsoft Teams.

Evaluation

Weekly journal prompts, discussion board in Yellowdig, peer review of course design and the final project. Final project will be the development of a course syllabus, along with backward design of a course. This project could be focused on an actual course that already exists or a course that is envisioned for the future.
