Section Description

We are part of the business world every day. Whether you are buying a cup of coffee, watching the news, downloading music, or sleeping on a great mattress, transactions have to happen to make that all possible. As a result, products are made, goods are sold, profits rise and fall, and people are employed. In this course, we will explore the world of business, both big and small. We will look at how the world changes business and how business changes the world. Understanding the micro and macro elements are both important, no more so than understanding how businesses are created, managed, and led. This course is about business in the context of our global society. Students will increase their awareness and understanding of business concepts.

Section Expectation

Students will be expected to read, watch videos, and participate in online discussions independently. Students will be encouraged to use course material to be self-aware and mindful about how businesses are formed, led, and managed. Students will be encouraged to be better consumers, business owners, and employees.

Evaluation

This course is interactive through online discussion board assignments. Real case examples will be presented, and students will be evaluated through writing, analyzing, and sharing their perspectives in written exercises. Students will complete online open-book quizzes. The final project is the creation of a board game to teach business concepts, and a video presentation of the game concept using props and players.
