REAL PEOPLE, REAL STORIES. This course dives into the art of writing Profiles -- not for fb or tindr, but essays that shine a light on a person worth highlighting. People you know, people to whom you have access, people who inspire, people who uplift. People who are complicated and imperfect, people who defy easy categories or descriptions, people whose stories you would love to know more deeply.

This is a fully online class that goes fast! Expect to read a lot of terrific published profiles on a wide range of people, and to write/review/revise your own essays about the real stories of the real people you find fascinating. You will also be giving feedback to your peers, and receiving it back fourfold. Work will be done through Blackboard, Bb discussions, Eli Review. All readings are online, so there are no books to purchase.

I use Labor-Based Grading, which means that you contract for your workload in alignment with the grade you will receive. Elements that count toward your workload are reviewing peers through Eli Review, discussing published readings, and completing each project. Warning: this course really does go FAST, and there will be reading, writing, and review due nearly every day.
