Dates: May 20 - June 28, 2019; Class meets on 6/10, 6/12, 6/17, 6/19, 6/24, & 6/26 only from 5:30-8pm. The entire course will run over a 6-week period with pre-readings being assigned for the first week and the two in-class days running consecutively in the first 6 weeks. Section Description

In this second 1-credit section of the Sex Therapy course series, students will explore and apply foundational principles and practices of systemic sex therapy. Course objective’s include: 1) Applying principles and practices of sex therapy to the assessment and treatment of sexual difficulties and disorders; 2) Utilizing sex therapy interventions from a variety of evidence-based models and techniques (namely, sexual history interviews, sexual genograms, and Sensate Focus); and 3) Critically reflecting on attitudes and biases about sex, sexuality, and gender as they relate to treatment implementation.

Section Expectation

This course meets in-person twice a week and combines lecture and discussion formats. Students should expect to spend 6-8 hours a week completing course readings and assignments in addition to time spent in class. The course will utilize two required texts and supplemental articles/chapters posted to Blackboard; time spent outside of class will include participation in online discussion forums.

Evaluation

Grades are based on attendance and participation (including participation in online forums), weekly assignments, and a final assessment.
