Dates: May 20 - June 14, 2019; Full course title: Supporting Students with Emotional & Behavioral Needs in the General Education Classroom.
This course is designed for general educators, special educators, social workers, and other adults supporting students who struggle in school. Participants will create Functional Behavior Assessments and data tracking systems/analysis to write and revise Behavior Support Plans. They will also create lessons and learning opportunities for individual students in regular education settings. The course will focus on effective strategies for keeping struggling students engaged in learning, systems to keep students in classrooms, safety and transition plans, and ways to involve parents and families in the learning process. Together we will explore the best approaches for working with students who have a variety of needs, including students with ADHD, ASD, emotional disturbance, those who display oppositional behaviors, and students who have experienced trauma.
