Section Description

This course will provide a broad introduction to the concepts of psychology, especially how it functions as a science and how it relates to all aspects of our lives. This course will familiarize you with the theories and research that constitute this field, as well as the ways in which human behavior is influenced by biological, psychological, and social factors. This will provide a strong background for those pursuing a psychology major, and non-majors will find the information of great value to their professional and everyday lives. At the end of this course, students will have: 1. An understanding of the scientific methods and critical research/ethical issues involved in psychological research; 2. An acquaintance with a broad array of subjects within the field and an increased understanding of the multitude of factors that influence human behavior; 3. Some ideas of how to apply psychological principles in your own life; 4. Experience thinking critically about psychological concepts and research practices.
