Section Description

ventures. Emphasis will be community enterprises, ventures (businesses and other organizations) which contribute to community development, sustainability and well-being. Students will apply marketing techniques and concepts to existing local businesses as well as creating a marketing plan for a venture of their choosing. This is a Sustainability course; you will learn how concepts of sustainability influence how you create and market a business opportunity Objectives. 1. Students will be able to identify and give examples of marketing concepts and techniques 2. Students will appropriately apply marketing concepts and techniques to a variety of cases and situations 3. Students will design a marketing plan for a venture of their choice which a. Employs marketing concepts and techniques b. Will (or could realistically) be used c. Would advance the mission of the venture

Section Expectation

Format: Readings, quizzes, on-line discussions and written homework. Students should expect to spend at least 10 hours per week on class work Textbook: Marketing for Entrepreneurs, Concepts and Applications for New Ventures. Frederick G. Crane, Sage Press. The textbook is mandatory.

Evaluation

Expectations on Assignments. Any quiz, discussion or homework submitted past its due date and time may earn a zero. Extensions may be granted on a limited basis for extraordinary circumstances and must be requested by email at least 12 hours in advance of due date.
