For students who present less than two years of high school Latin.
Dates: May 20 - June 14, 2019
This course is an introduction to the grammar, syntax, and vocabulary of classical Latin. This four-week online summer course will cover the same material as the first semester of in-class instruction. Each week of the course will cover five chapters. At the end of the course students will be eligible to enroll in Latin 003 in the fall or Latin 002 in the spring.
Each week students will learn new material by watching videos created by the instructor which guide them through the material presented in the textbook. Students will complete practice exercises and short assignments on each chapter. They will also participate in online discussions with their classmates on grammatical topics of interest. At the end of each week students will take a quiz on that week’s material. There will be a final exam at the end of the fourth week. The required text for this course is Wheelock’s Latin, 7th edition (ISBN 978-0061997228).
