More Information

Section Description

Landscape Design Fundamentals is a studio course that introduces students to the principles of landscape design and the design process.  Through lectures, discussions, field trips, a series of studio exercises and studio critiques, and a real-world final project, students will be introduced to the landscape design process and basic design vocabulary. Students will learn to perform and present—both orally and graphically—site inventory and analyses, program developments, conceptual planning, schematic designs, and design details. Students in this class will examine the world in new and different ways, including observations of natural and cultural phenomena, and studies of form and function on small and large-scale sites.  The summer session will allow more of this course to be taught outdoors, introducing students to the principles of landscape design and the design process through real-world projects and hands-on experiences.
