Intermediate course or seminars on topics beyond the scope of existing departmental offerings. See Schedule of Courses for specific titles.
Dates: June 18 - July 13, 2018; Lab Fee: $180; Prereq: ARTS 001 or you may contact the instructor for permission at email@example.com. This is a 3 credit studio art class which requires more contact hours than a conventional course.
This painting class looks at and practices the watercolor medium as it connects to the larger history of art, from Chinese landscape painting to modernism to contemporary practices. Along the way we will learn the medium's unique formal capabilities, using technical experimentation to study color concepts, the construction of images, and ways of seeing. Abstract and representational modes of painting take place inside the studio and, weather permitting, in the Vermont landscape.
