Dates: July 16 - August 10, 2018
The purpose of this course is to provide the opportunity to learn and reflect upon the necessary skills to be a successful coach. The course will cover numerous topics but will focus on seven main sub-sections designed to allow the student the opportunity to learn, evaluate and self-reflect on their abilities and skills as a coach. Topics include leadership and communication style, technical versus tactical instruction, player management, ethics in coaching, coaching behavior, and motivation and punishment in sports.
It is expected that the student will develop a more mature and organized approach to coaching by reflecting on leadership and communication style. In order to accomplish this the student will need to read and/or watch all materials. The course uses a mix of conventional readings and online video clips.
The course evaluations comprise 7 online quizzes and 3 written reflections.
