Section Description

This 3-credit course is designed for classroom teachers, special educators, administrators and support professionals in the school setting (preK-12). Utilizing a holistic approach we will examine behaviors that challenge educators and the educator’s role in shaping behaviors to promote inclusion of all students. Participants will learn about and engage in evidence based practices to promote self-care and student well being. This hybrid course combines classroom based instruction with on-line learning modules to promote the following learning objectives: Develop and implement functionally based behavior support plans Engaging and empower families and caregivers to collaborate with schools Utilize Mindfulness practices to improve classroom culture Engaging struggling students in universal instruction Understand the why of problem behaviors and the functions they serve Examine trauma informed practices Utilize Collaborative Problem Solving practices Participants will: Develop student specific student success plan including practical tools, strategies and resources Create a Mindfulness resource tool-kit for themselves and students A wealth of information and resources to support our most vulnerable children
